About Sandor Magnes

My interest in sculpting started twelve years ago. Trying to find the best way to express myself in art, I attended courses and workshops in both hand building ceramics and the sculpting of figures and busts. The first workshop experience was at the Miami Art League. There I learned the basics of working with clay. Following that, I attended sculpting classes and workshops given by the artist, Panet, It made me realize, through his animated way of teaching, that sculpting, as opposed to hand building pottery and ceramics, was the best way for me to express myself in art. After two years of instruction under the influence of Panet, I have taken additional workshops and instructions.

The artists, some who are known worldwide, that have infuenced me the most are Susan Luery, Nilda Comas, Judy Williams, Wayne Pelke, Arlene Segal, Nancy Edelstein, Lorrie Williamson, and Dora Fiser. Other workshops taken were at The Armory, in West Palm Beach,Broward Art Guild,Boca Museum Art School, Broward Community College and the University of Miami. I have also taken extensive workshops at The Carving Studio in Rutland, Vermont and The Loveland Academy in Loveland Colorado.

My work has been in several art shows in Broward County. It also can be seen in my home and in the homes of:

Mr.and Mrs. Peter Vince, Siesta Key, Fla.
Dr.Benny Berman and Dr. Toby Berman, Weston, Fla.
Mr. and Mrs. Howard Lurier, Worcester, Mass.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Koenig, Weston, Fla.
